AMP Radio turns your computer into a virtual radio. It's the easiest way to listen to Internet MP3 streams which use the Shoutcast and Icecast protocols. AMP Radio also allows you to listen to local MP3 files, with a hierarchical playlist and the Millennium MP3 playback engine.
Internet Streaming Audio is any kind of audio being played remotely while a user connects to it. The Shoutcast and Icecast protocols allow many users to tune into one stream, much like a radio station. While there is no way to broadcast your own Shoutcast/Icecast-type stream on the Mac yet, AMP Radio will allow you to tune into streams created on other platforms.
Note: System Requirements: Any Power Macintosh; 3500 K devoted to AMP Radio. Internet Connection to listen to Internet Streams. Not necessary for Local Playback. Special note: AMP Radio 1.6.5 is compatible with Mac OS 8.5 and higher only. The authors are working to make it compatible with OS 8.1 and lower as well.
